CMAT, NewDad, Kettama, and Jazzy all performed at the iconic California festival last weekend

Ireland had one of its most significant showings in years at Coachella 2026, with four Irish acts taking to the stage across the first weekend of the festival in Indio, California.

Meath singer-songwriter CMAT, whose real name is Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson, drew considerable attention with her set on the Gobi stage on Friday.

Performing tracks from her acclaimed album Euro-Country, she arrived at the festival having already made her presence felt on the road into Indio, where she commissioned a billboard bearing a message in Irish Gaelic that read ‘Coachella, don’t be a b*tch.’

Fans showed up in full boho-western attire, many carrying fans printed with a lyric from her song ‘The Jamie Oliver Petrol Station.’

Galway indie rock band NewDad also made their Coachella debut on the same stage, opening the Irish action on Friday afternoon.

The band, who formed in 2018 and have previously been compared to The Cure and Beabadoobee by NME, performed tracks including ‘Kick The Curb’ to a sun-drenched crowd.

Fellow Galway native Kettama, producer Evan Campbell, performed in the celebrated Yuma tent on Friday evening, marking his second appearance at the festival, having previously played Coachella in 2024.

NewDad guitarist Julie noted the remarkable coincidence that two of the Irish acts on the bill grew up around the corner from each other in Galway. ‘I just think that’s so funny,’ she said. ‘It would be more normal if it were three Dubs.’

Dublin chart-topper Jazzy rounded out the Irish contingent on Sunday, taking to the Quasar stage as part of a busy run of US dates for the world’s most-streamed female DJ.

The performances mark another significant moment for Irish music at a festival that has previously served as a career-defining platform for the likes of Hozier, Dermot Kennedy, and Two Door Cinema Club.

All four acts are set to perform again at the festival’s second weekend, which takes place from 17 April.
