Lucy Kennedy is known for her carefree, water-off-a-duck’s-back attitude, but one thing nags her about her renowned series, Living with Lucy.

Since its inception in 2008, the show, which originated on RTÉ and was later secured by Virgin Media, has seen Lucy reside in the homes of many a well-known face.

In the early days, she briefly moved in with her good pal Daithí Ó Sé, Shane Lynch, and Sonia O’Sullivan. As the series progressed, she lived with Kerry Katona, Katie Price, Gemma Collins, and Caitlyn Jenner.

Lucy has made no secret of her adoration for Living with Lucy, but she has one regret, which happened in 2017.

In episode two of the second season since Virgin Media took it over, the mum-of-three moved in with Katie Hopkins, a broadcaster who is known for her outspoken personality and strong beliefs.

Speaking in the Irish Independent, Lucy said: ‘When I look back at the previous seasons of Living with Lucy, my only slight regret was how I reacted to Katie Hopkins. Now that I’m older and wiser, I probably should have kept my cool.’

Lucy, who turned 50 this year, admitted she ‘struggled to get my head around why she said the things she said and wrote the things she wrote’.

She thought they’d be on the same page because ‘on paper, she was a lot like me, a happily married mum-of-three’.

But now that she’s bigger and bolder, Lucy recognises that ‘you can’t agree with everybody’ and that ‘she’s entitled to her opinions’, even if they differ from Lucy’s own.

‘Over the years, I’ve learned that everyone is entitled to their opinion, regardless of whether you agree with them or not. I’m much better now at sitting with that and continuing the conversation without reacting,’ she said.

The TV favourite also admitted that she “felt uncomfortable” while living with Danniella Westbrook a few years ago.

Lucy also admitted that she felt ‘uncomfortable’ while living with Danniella Westbrook during that same season.

‘She was going through a lot back then,’ Lucy recalled, adding that Daniella got ‘irritated’ during filming because she wanted to be alone.

‘She was between homes and not feeling great, so in hindsight she probably regretted saying yes to filming when she did.

‘I don’t think she realised it was going to be three days of somebody constantly talking. I had to manage her a little bit, but looking at her now, she’s a different person, and it’s so great to see.’
