Ronan Keating has shared what ended up being his final conversation with Glen Hansard.
Glen tragically passed away following a motorcycle accident during the early hours of Wednesday morning, aged 56.
Tributes have poured in for Glen from the musical world, after his decades-long career, including an Oscar, came to a tragic end — with former Boyzone member Ronan sharing what turned out to be his final conversation with the The Frames frontman.
Ronan emailed Glen in their final conversation, saying: ‘In Sydney on a beach listening to you sing your heart out. Love you.’
Glen emailed back to say that he would be in Sydney the following week, with Ronan saying that he ‘left it too long’ and now he can’t reach out to Glen again.
‘Last time we spoke,’ Ronan wrote. ‘I left it too long and now he’s gone and I can’t reach out and ask him advice or if he has any good starts.’
‘You were the best of us,’ he continued. ‘Thank you for allowing me to sing your words and I will continue to. Travel safe mucker, God bless ya, sending love to your loved ones.’
There’s set to be a public wake for Glen on Monday in the Baroque Chapel at IMMA, Royal Hospital Kilmainham on Monday (August 3) from 11am to 4pm.
Glen’s funeral will take place in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin 8 on Tuesday (August 4) at 1.30pm. The funeral is open to the public, but access to the inside of the church will be limited due to the expected numbers.
Music at the funeral will be provided by Glen’s friends and family, and the funeral service will be streamed online.
