Harriet and Tadhg Beirne have had an exciting few weeks Down Under catching up with his family, but there’s lots happening back at home as well.
The couple, who welcomed their daughter Penelope in December 2025, shared an update on their future plans in an Instagram Q&A this week.
As it turns out, just like their rugby pals Joanna Cooper and Conor Murray, the Beirnes are in the midst of a renovation project.
Harriet opened up her DMs on Friday and revealed that lots of people had been asking about their home and that they had an exciting update.
‘Loads of questions about our new home. We’re staying in Ireland but moving county to be closer to family,’ she said.
Harriet continued: ‘We bought a derelict bungalow back in December 2024 and have had the joys of planning permission and other unexpected delays, but we’re so excited to be underway with the renovation and extension build.
‘We’ve been so lucky with the weather that the builders are full steam ahead! I’d love to share bits along the way of interiors etc, but right now there isn’t a roof so we’ll get there.’
Harriet also confirmed that a move to Australia wasn’t on the cards, even though they’ve loved their trip in recent weeks.
She said: ‘I swear if I had a dollar for every message I got telling me how much I suited Australian life I could probably afford to move there.
‘But realistically no I couldn’t ever move there. Living in Ireland is already so far from my family and friends in Wales, so the distance would just be torture.’
‘The lifestyle is absolutely amazing though, and lucky for us we have family to go visit there, so hopefully more trips down under over the years,’ she concluded.
Two of Tadhg’s sisters, Alannah and Jen, are currently living in Australia, with Jen also recently becoming a mum to a little girl.
As for Harriet’s family, they are based in Wales, and her twin sister Amelia is also a mum to a daughter, with her often flying over to visit them.
Tadhg and Harriet actually met in Wales in 2018 shortly after he had returned to Ireland to play for Munster after two years playing for Welsh side Scarlets.
Sparks clearly flew between them and they made the relationship work despite the distance. Fast forward eight years and the couple are married with a little girl.
