
The actions of Israel’s military in Gaza and elsewhere have become something of a political hot potato in Hollywood, with many celebrities siding with the Palestinian cause.
So Gwyneth Paltrow’s decision to become the face of a luxury apartment development in Herzliya, an affluent city on Israel’s coast, is likely to raise eyebrows among some of her neighbours in Montecito, California.
The 53-year-old Oscar winner stars in a video campaign for the Israeli real estate group Aviv Melisron showcasing its 51 Park complex.

The video was filmed in New York and will be shown as marketing material to promote the development in Israel.
Ms Paltrow, who is married to Jewish producer Brad Falchuk, 55, and whose late father Bruce was also Jewish, was open in her condemnation of the October 7 attacks by Hamas in 2023.

A number of her neighbours and former co-stars have criticised the Israel Defence Forces. Mark Ruffalo, who starred with her in 2012’s Thanks For Sharing, has openly supported Palestine, as has Joaquin Phoenix, her co-star in 2008’s Two Lovers.
