Gordon Ramsay’s new upcoming TV show has reportedly been halted after a major star sensationally quit just weeks before filming was scheduled to begin.

Marcus Wareing spent years clashing with Gordon over a 2008 dispute regarding the lease of the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Pétrus at The Berkeley hotel.

The hatchet had seemingly been fully buried when Marcus agreed to team up with the Kitchen Nightmares chef for a new cookery show on BBC Two, but things have recently taken another twist.

Despite filming set to get underway in September, Marcus has now reportedly quit the show in a sensational late twist.

According to The Sun, The MasterChef star has told executives that he no longer wants to take part in the programme.

A source told the paper: ‘Sadly, the format has already fallen apart. Last week, Marcus told the producers he didn’t want to do it anymore, leading to the show being halted.

‘It’s a shame as there was so much excitement about the reunion. It all feels pretty final, but the BBC could try to rescue it in another way. They liked the concept and the talent involved.’

While it is unclear why Marcus decided to quit the show, an insider reportedly insisted that he had not fallen out with Gordon.

In recent years, Marcus spoke about how his feud with Gordon was ‘the best thing that ever happened to both of us’, with any dispute seemingly long-settled.

However, back in 2011, things weren’t so friendly between the pair and Marcus revealed details about their rivalry in an interview with Weekend Magazine.

He said: ‘Gordon verbally kicked the s*** out of you. Then he would buy you a beer. He put me through mental torture.

‘I’d be first in in the morning, and I’d lock up at night. All day, there’d be Gordon being Gordon. It’s a wonder we all survived.’

At one stage, Marcus stopped working as Gordon’s head chef and launched his own independent venture at the location once the Scotsman’s contract expired, escalating the feud.
