Dating apps are ten a penny these days, but not everyone goes down this route for finding true love, as one man has revealed.

A post has gone viral this week when it was discovered that a man decided to make a move on a former girlfriend on RIP.ie…yes, you read that correctly.

In a brazen and cheeky attempt, the man didn’t hesitate and asked the girl to get in contact with him.

Addressing the girl, he said, ‘deepest sympathies to you on your mother’s death RIP.’

And without any hesitation, he began to recall the past when they used to date. ‘You were my girlfriend years ago when you were in Feely’s Academy school in Roscommon town. I was dating you in Carrick, too.’

‘We met in Kitty O Shea’s night club in Roscommon town.’

He admitted to the girl that ‘I often thought of you after to see how you got on, no mobile phones at that time. I think it could have been the late 80s or early 90s. I think we were too young to settle down.’

Wanting to meet up again, he left his phone number in hopes that she would call him.

EVOKE has contacted the man in question for comment.

Meanwhile, people couldn’t believe their eyes and couldn’t help but comment on the post.

One person wrote ‘Only in Ireland,’ where another stated ‘When RIP. i.e., collaborates with Tinder!’

However, some did sympathise with the man, ‘Gah-help-us, he obviously doesn’t know that it’s public. Also ya have to give it to him, he’s brave.’

Many people are intrigued to know whether or not she called!
