RTÉ have confirmed when the final episode of this season’s Late Late Show will take place, and it’s sooner than you may think.
Patrick Kielty became the host of the Late Late Show in 2023 following Ryan Tubridy’s departure.
While Patrick initially signed on for three years, many expected his contract to be renewed later this year for another series. However, it has emerged that the Co Down comedian is ‘weighing up his options’ regarding his future with the show.

While RTÉ have declined to comment on Patrick’s future, and the show in general, they have confirmed that the show’s series finale will take place next month.
‘The last Late Late Show of the season is on 1 May,’ an RTÉ spokesperson said.
The future of Patrick’s time as host of the Late Late is still up in the air, with growing uncertainty surrounding whether he’ll return in September following his shock split from presenter Cat Deeley.

Sources close to the presenter told Extra.ie last month, that Patrick is still juggling the demands surrounding hosting the Late Late Show along with the emotional fallout of his marriage ending.
Insiders warned that a cross-channel commute to see his children, who still live in the UK, could be the final straw, with Patrick reportedly ‘exhausted’ with the new reality.
Industry veterans are already openly questioning how much longer he can last in the hot seat, with the mood at Montrose said to be ‘decidedly less optimistic’ than in the glory days of Gay Byrne and Ryan Tubridy.

‘Pat is a brilliant comedian and an incredibly personable presenter, but for some reason his talents just haven’t shone through on the Late Late,’ one source told Extra.ie.
‘From what I’m hearing, Patrick feels constrained and more than a little exasperated. Nobody expects him to be there in five years.’
The final episode of the 2025/26 season of the Late Late will take place on May 1.
