Maura Higgins’ US rise is showing no signs of slowing down — as she’s set to host a US version of a classic reality show.
After making a name for herself on Love Island, the Longford beauty began plying her trade in other reality shows, participating in I’m A Celebrity, Dancing on Ice, and the US version of The Traitors.
While audiences in Ireland and the UK have grown accustomed to, and love, Maura’s no-nonsense approach to everything she does, the US audiences got a taste of her when she hosted Love Island USA: Aftersun, before she went on to participate in the US version of the Traitors.
Maura made it to the final of The Traitors, and despite being promised a Birkin bag that Rob Rausch was a faithful, he ended up betraying her by revealing that he was, in fact, a traitor (although Maura still got her Birkin in the end, so everybody wins!)
While something like that could have caused a rift between the pair, it appears that Maura and Rob’s friendship is set to take the next step: as they prepare to host a US version of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here.
Deadline reports that NBC Universal will reboot the long-running celebrity reality show, which Maura herself competed on, and is expected to air on Peacock.
This series is the latest attempt for the franchise to break the US, after two attempts previously lasted only one season each.
Peacock’s version, under the working title ‘Get Me Out of Here,’ is expected to air next year.
‘I will not stop until that show is sold and I think we’re closer than we’ve ever been,’ ITV America’s CEO, David George, joked last year.
Maura also teased the upcoming show alongside Rob on her Instagram, captioning the post: ‘A pinky promise. A betrayal.
A Birkin. And now… CO-HOSTS?!
‘GET ME OUT OF HERE… coming soon.’
It’s been a busy year for Maura, as she has also been announced as the host of Disney+’s reboot of Blind Date after its latest iteration concluded in 2019.
