Power Ballad, a new musical comedy, is set to hit the big screen in just a few short weeks, and we’ve spotted a very familiar face in the trailer.

Ok, yes, we also spotted the very familiar faces of Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, but we’re talking about none other than Amy Huberman!

Here’s everything we know about the upcoming film, and why you should definitely head to the cinema to see it.

The film follows Rick Power, a wedding singer, who meets a washed-up former boyband member, Danny Wilson, at a wedding. The pair bond over a late-night jam session.

It seems like an innocent interaction, but it transpires that Danny has stolen one of Rick’s songs. It becomes a number one hit, and Danny’s popularity comes flooding back.

Jealous of Danny’s new lease of fame, Rick seeks out revenge and recognition for his lyrics.

Power Ballad was written by Dublin-born writers John Carney and Peter McDonald, with Carney also directing the project.

Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas lead the cast as Rick and Danny, respectively. On the back of his success in Lee Cronin’s The Mummy, Jack Reynor stars as Mac.

Unbeknownst to us (until we spotted her luscious blonde locks in the trailer), Amy Huberman actually stars in Power Ballad as well as Ms Carney.

Also in the cast are Peter McDonald, Marcella Plunkett, Rory Keenan, Keith McErlean, Paul Reid, Beth Fallon, and Havana Rose Liu.

Filming in Ireland

We’ve spotted many a famous face filming on the Emerald Isle (never forget Matt Damon and his Supervalu bag!), and they always seem to enjoy their time here.

Nick was papped at Italian restaurant Rosa Madre in Temple Bar, and the Jonas Brothers star later dropped into famous rugby pub, The Bridge 1859 in Ballsbridge.

Meanwhile, Paul, who has a family connection to Co Cork, previously told Extra.ie of his time in Ireland: ‘Practicing music, recording music.

‘I didn’t have that much time off, but when a day would come around on a weekend or something, I would try and, you know, go walk around town and go to some restaurants, go to a few pubs, see some friends.’

Release date

Power Ballad is set to be released in Irish cinemas on May 29. You’re not going to want to miss it!
