TV Drama

Killing Eve

Starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer, Killing Eve centers on two women: Eve is a bored MI5 security officer whose desk-bound job doesn't fulfil her fantasies of being a spy. Villanelle is a talented killer who clings to the luxuries her violent job affords. Season one and two of Killing Eve are available to stream for free on the RTE player.

Smother

Smother is an Irish drama starring Dervla Kirwan, Seána Kerslake and Stuart Graham. This thriller has been getting rave reviews and is definitely worth checking out. When Val Ahern’s husband is found dead the morning after a family party, she interrogates his relationships with his family – and begins to uncover an intricate web of lies. The first two episodes of season one are available to stream now on the RTE player.

One Tree Hill

Feeling nostalgic? This 2000s classic is now available to stream on the RTE player. The story follows half-brothers Nathan and Lucas trade between kinship and rivalry on the basketball court and in the hearts of their friends, in the small town of Tree Hill, North Carolina.

The West Wing

If you're looking for something a little more serious. All seven seasons of the West Wing are now available to stream on the RTE player. Martin Sheen stars as the U.S. President in this powerful political drama, documenting the highs and lows of White House senior staff.

First Dates Ireland

First dates Ireland is back for its sixth season! The First Dates restaurant throws open its doors to single people looking for love. It's available to stream for free on the RTE player.

My little big day

Continuing with the theme of love. RTE just released a new documentary telling the stories of six couples who tied the knot in the midst of the pandemic, with each having a wedding vastly different to what they had originally planned.

Something to watch with the kids

Mimi and the Mountain Dragon

This is an animated adaptation of the children's book by Michael Morpurgo. The story follows a shy little girl named Mimi finds a baby dragon and undertakes a perilous journey to return it to its mother. It has a running time of 24 minutes so its a good short pre bedtime watch for young kids. Theirs only two days left to stream it on the RTE player if you want to watch it.

If you're looking for some classic Disney magic Netflix now has The princess and the frog available to stream. Staring Anika Noni Rose and Keith David. The story follows a young waitress, Tiana, embarks on a hilarious adventure after her fateful kiss with a frog prince who cannot wait to be human again.

Sticking to Netflix, Turbo follows the story of a snail that finds himself extraordinarily gifted after a freak accident endows him with the power of speed. He decides to compete in the world's fastest race, the Indianapolis 500. Its a heart warming and feel good film perfect for a Friday evening in.

This land

Zithelo Bobby Mthombeni's documentary 'THIS LAND', is a short film about Ireland's relationship with race, identity and immigration. The film explores new ways of experiencing Irishness, via discussions with chefs, artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, journalists and activists.

The hunger

Liam Neeson narrates this two-part documentary marking the 175th anniversary of The famine, exploring the international origins, development and legacy. The hunger is availible to stream on the RTE player.

Ireland's Deep Atlantic

Ireland’s Deep Atlantic sees underwater cameraman Ken O’Sullivan embark on a series of voyages out into the open North Atlantic in search of large whales, sharks and cold water coral reefs 3,000 down on Ireland’s deep sea bed.

Sport

Ireland V England

Lets not forget the match tomorrow. Ireland will be playing England at 4:45 pm in the Aviva Stadium. Virgin Media will be showing live coverage of the match on Saturday afternoon with their build up starting at 4.30 pm. This can also be live streamed for free off of the Virgin Media player.

Seán

Documentary about the life of the legendary Seán Boylan, exploring his childhood as an unassuming young boy with “not a notion in the world”, to how he became one of the most successful and respected managers in GAA history.
