Remote working has had a significant impact on the property market, according to a new study.
Property prices in each county were examined by the Irish Independent, with some areas experiencing an increase of between 10-29 percent in the last year. Rural Ireland reported the biggest price surge, as working from home drove people away from the city.
City and town prices in Waterford have surged by between 8% to 12 % for most properties.
The cost of a three-bed semi in Waterford city will set you back in the region €245,ooo that's up from € 220,00 last year. That's expected to rise to €265,000 by this time next year. According to the survey, for a 4 bedroomed bungalow in a more rural area you can expect to pay €400,00 with that expected to rise to €420.000 next year.
But in a county where just one-third of the population is rural-based demand outside the towns was not nearly as strong.
However, Irish Independent Residential Property Editor Mark Keenan says coastal properties remain in huge demand, particularly in locations like Tramore, Dungarvan and Dunmore East. Keenan said the hot spot is Dunmore East where prices in the area are running well ahead of the country's average, reflecting the popularity of the seaside location.
