Waterford's Thomas Barr and his Ireland teammates collected bronze medals at the World Relay Championships in the Bahamas last night as they broke the Irish national record for the second time in as many days in the 4 x 400m Mixed Relay Final.
Barr, Rhasidat Adeleke, Sharlene Mawdsley and Cillian Greene came home in a time of 3:11:83 to card a piece of Irish athletics history.
The race was won by the USA in a championship record time while the Netherlands claimed silver.
🗣️ “It’s absolutely unbelievable, it’s the stuff of dreams…I don’t think we expected it at all.”

The Ferrybank AC man and the Irish team qualified for the Paris Olympics by virtue of their victory in the semi-final and hopes are now high that they can repeat the trick this summer.
