Waterford FC rounded off a superb Bank Holiday weekend with a second away win in the space of four days with an impressive 3-1 victory over champions Shamrock Rovers yesterday evening.
The Blues manager was delighted after Waterford FC claimed all three points and picked up their first-ever win over Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght.
Boss Keith Long gave his reaction to WLR Sports post-match.
"We deserved to win on the balance of the game. We had to ride our luck a little bit. Rovers are a good side, winning the league the last four years and you don't come to Tallaght and ride your luck at the best of times. We did that but carried a real threat. Some of the goals that we scored were exceptional.
"The togetherness of the team alongside the organisation and quick turnaround from Friday through Monday was evident. They didn't come to Tallaght to lay about. We carried a threat and delivered."
Conor Parsons scored a 2nd-half goal to seal a huge three points from the Blues in the capital. He gave his reaction to WLR Sport post-match.
"It's a great weekend for the club. To get six points in four days is massive. It's a very tight league so to score six points pushes us up a bit. I think it goes to show it's a proper statement we put out to the league that we have come here to Shamrock to perform how we did, I don't think anyone has done that yet this season."
Keith Long's charges backed up Friday's win over Sligo with another brilliant display of attacking football to deservedly take the spoils.
Waterford will now be hoping to carry this momentum into their home form when they return to the RSC on Friday evening with Dundalk coming to town.
