Waterford FC 0 St Patrick's Athletic 2

Waterford FC's desperate search for a first win of the season goes on as they fell to another defeat at the RSC with St Patrick's Athletic taking all three points to keep the pressure on Bohemians. Jon Daly made two changes with John Mahon returning after injury while Tommy Lonergan returned to the starting line up. Kian Leavy recovered from a back injury to make his 100th appearance for the Saints in Stephen Kenny's only change from Monday night's outing against Derry City. And yet again it was another bizarre goal that provided the opener as Jason McClelland's cross was flicked on by Luke Turner but the ball somehow deflected off Hayden Cann's shoulder and looped into the net. Despite a few chances in the second half it was the visitors who doubled their advantage on seventy minutes when substitute Aidan Keena's curling effort was headed home by Luke Turner. Waterford could not find a way back into the game and the Saints closed out the match to move within a point of the top.
