It was honours even at Ferrycarrig Park as Wexford came back from two goals down to force a share of the spoils.

It was a tentative start from the Blues with Eoin Farrell testing Blues keeper Paul Martin after 4 minutes. However ,Waterford weathered the storm and gradually got into the game and they created the best chances.

The first real effort came on 23 minutes when Tunmise Sobowale was fouled out near the right sideline. Phoenix Patterson floated in a great free kick that was met by Darragh Power but he was denied by an excellent save from Alex Moody.

Seven minutes later Roland Idowu charged through the defence and though he managed to lift the ball beyond Moody, Jordan Tallon managed to scramble the ball off the line.

Tallon was again the Wexford hero four minutes later when he managed to block Wassim Aouachria’s goalbound effort after the Blues striker dispossessed Joe Manley before rounding the keeper and firing for goal.

The breakthrough came on 52 minutes when Junior Quitirna was fouled on the edge of the penalty area and he dusted himself off to take the free and he lifted over the wall into the net for a deserved lead.

Roland Idowu doubled the advantage on the hour mark when a Killian Cantwell free kick was controlled by Aouachria who turned and fired low across the goal where Idowu was on hand to fire home from close range.

Wexford were handed a lifeline five minutes later when Dean Larkin was adjudged to have handled the ball and Conor Barry made no mistake from the penalty spot.

In fairness to the home side they kept pressing for an equaliser and it was substitute Aaron Dobbs who finally levelled things in the 84th minute when he fired home from close range.

The Blues did have a penalty claim of their own waved away deep in injury time when Cantwell appeared to be pushed by Moody but the ref waved play on and seconds later Aouachria blazed over the bar when it seemed easier to score.
