Waterford athletes took home six medals from the 123.ie National u20 and u23 Indoor Championships TUS Athlone on Saturday.
Lucy Holmes of West Waterford AC was a close second in the U23 1500 metres, coming home behind Eimear Maher of Dundrum who clocked 4.32.11 to Lucy's 4.32.63. Sophie Jackman St Senan's AC Kilmacow was third.
Ferrybank's Katie Nolke was second in the U23 long jump with clubmate David Igwe 2nd in the U20 long jump.
Third-place finishes went to other Ferrybank athletes with Paula Igwe in the U23 long jump and Louise Kremer of Waterford AC in the U23 triple jump.
While closer to home on Sunday,85 people braved the elements in the Annual Frank Leahy Memorial 5 miles run organised by St Paul's Parish.
The easy winner was Dermot Gorman Carrick on Suir in 27.14, Craig O'Brien of Ferrybank AC was second in 28.10 and Dean Rowe representing Gowran AC was third in 28.40.
The first lady home was Joan Mahony in 33.38, two Waterford AC entrants came second and third with Siobhan Heylin second in 33.43, and Diane Behan third in 34.17.
