There’s championship excitement building in Déise as the Waterford Senior Football Team prepares to face Tipperary Senior Football Team in the quarter-final of the Munster Senior Football Championship this Sunday.
Manager Ephie Fitzgerald has confirmed his starting fifteen for the showdown, with the game set for a 2 pm throw-in at Fraher Field.
Waterford have named a balanced side blending experience and youth across the field. Simon Burns lines out in goal, with a solid defensive unit including Tommy Martin, Billy Hynes, and Conor Ó Cuirrín.
In midfield, Michael O’Brien and Michael Curry will look to gain a foothold, while the forward line sees the likes of Donal Fitzgerald, Aaron Ryan, and Stephen Curry tasked with leading the scoring charge.

There’s also strength in depth on the bench, with options such as Paudie Hunt, Conor Keating, and Colin Foley ready to make an impact if called upon.
Recent encounters between the sides add extra intrigue heading into Sunday’s clash. Waterford got the better of Tipperary in 2024, recording an impressive championship victory in what was seen as a major boost for football in the county.
However, Tipperary responded the following year, turning the tables in the 2025 Munster Championship and underlining just how evenly matched these sides have become in recent seasons.
With local support expected in big numbers at Fraher Field, Waterford will be hoping home advantage can tip the balance. A place in the Munster semi-final is on the line, and with recent history showing little between the teams, this one is finely poised.
Throw-in is at 2 pm on Sunday, and it promises to be a fiercely contested provincial encounter.
