It's believed that a new Waterford senior hurling manager will be appointed in the next week.
Nominations from clubs closed on Monday and a four man selection committee has been drawn up to oversee an appointment.
That panel includes County Board Chairman Sean Michael O'Regan, Pat Flynn, Fergal Hartley and Irial Mac Murchu.
Among the names believed to be under consideration are former Kilkenny pair Michael Fennelly and Eddie Brennan, former Deise bosses Derek McGrath and Davy Fitzgerald as well as former Waterford captain Stephen Molumphy.
Liam Cahill recently departed the role after three years at the helm, and the Ballingarry man has since been confirmed as the new manager of his native Tipperary.
Fennelly recently left his position as Offaly manager - while Brennan has managed Laois. Davy Fitzgerald was part of the Cork coaching ticket which defeated Waterford in the All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championship semi-final on Saturday last. He guided the Deise to their first All-Ireland final appearance in 45 years back in 2008. Stephen Molumphy has also impressed in his first year in charge of Kerry, with the Ballyduff Upper man guiding them to the Joe McDonagh Cup final.
The Waterford Senior Club Hurling Championship gets underway tomorrow evening when Dungarvan meet Fourmilewater at Fraher Field from 7.30.
