The Waterford senior hurlers aim for five wins on the spin and to book their ticket to Division 1A once again when they welcome Offaly to Walsh Park tomorrow for a 4pm throw-in.
Following successes against Laois, Antrim, Dublin and Westmeath after a disappointing start to the season away in Cullen Park, Carlow – the Déise have bounced back and appear to be travelling in the right direction as the call of the Munster Senior Hurling Championship looms large.
Manager Peter Queally has named his side to take on The Faithful County, who themselves have been in tremendous form – going into the game unbeaten and already assured of their position at hurling’s top table for 2026.
Experimentation is expected on the Offaly front as they focus their attentions to the league final, where Waterford will be the opponents once again, barring a dramatic swing in circumstances and mathematics alike.
Déise boss Peter Queally will be able to call on Clashmore Kinsalebeg clubman and All-Star Tadhg de Búrca for the first time in 2025, as he has battled back from another injury-related absence to take his place in the starting fifteen.
There are changes from the record breaking win against Westmeath last time out.
Billy Nolan retains his place in goal while Conor Ryan starts ahead of Séamus Fitzgerald at corner back, as Mark Fitzgerald moves to full back while Conor Prunty is rested – making way for de Burca to move into centre half-back. Ian Kenny retains his place, as does Kieran Bennett, while Paddy Leavy starts ahead of Gavin Fives.
Darragh Lyons starts ahead of Kevin Mahony alongside Conor Sheahan in midfield, while Stephen Bennett and Jack Prendergast are named in the half-forward line alongside the returning Jamie Barron, who takes the place of Charlie Treen.
Patrick Curran and Dessie Hutchinson will occupy the corner forward positions, while Shane Bennett starts again coming in to take the place of Peter Hogan.
WLR will bring you the game LIVE tomorrow thanks to George Corbett Cupra. You can join us LIVE from 3.45pm with our commentary team of Kieran O’Connor and Fergal Hartley.
