The Waterford hurlers made a winning start to the new season following last night's 3-23 to 3-12 victory over Kerry at Austin Stack Park, Tralee in the opening round of the Munster Hurling league.

Jack Fagan, Jack Prendergast and the impressive Paudie Fitzgerald all found the net for Davy Fitzgerald's charges - the visitors were 1-11 to 1-6 in front at the break.

Kilrossanty ace Paudie Fitzgerald fired 1-9 for the Dèise who always had the game under control as both sides emptied the benches in the 2nd-half.
Shane Conway netted two penalties for the Kingdom either side of half-time with Maurice O' Connor also raising a green flag for Stephen Molumphy's side.
Waterford return to action on Sunday afternoon with Tipperary the visitors to Fraher Field for a 2pm throw-in.
