Waterford FC Women kick-off their inaugural season in the Women’s League of Ireland with a trip across Munster to take on Treaty United FC in their opening fixture of the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division season – taking place on International Women’s Day.

Gary Hunt has built a squad mixed with League of Ireland experience along with some graduates from our Waterford FC academy sides, as they look to get their 2025 campaign off to a positive start at Market’s Field v Treaty United this afternoon.

“We are excited to finally get the season underway after a good pre-season where the whole group put in some great work on & off the pitch. This is almost the litmus test for our group to really see where we are in comparison to the standards expected at this level but it’s one we will fully embrace. Personally, I’m really excited to take on this challenge and lead this group as we become the first ever women’s team to represent the club at the highest level of the game in this country. We want this team to represent what Waterford is about and with the support of our fans I’m sure together we will make great strides both in the short & long term. Finally, we have to acknowledge & thank all those behind the scenes in helping the club complete the female pathway and long may it last.”

After earning a 7th place finish in 2024, Treaty will be looking to build on those foundations in 2025.

Treaty’s squad is a combination of League of Ireland experience, exciting academy graduates & players brought in from overseas this Winter, as the Limerick outfit get their season up and running this Saturday in a historic fixture for the Blues.
