As a final run-out before Friday's league opener in Wexford, there are probably more questions than answers for Danny Searle as Waterford were outplayed in every position.

They fell behind on 14 minutes when Jake Mulraney was put through by Chris Forrester and, despite a great tackle from Dean Larkin, the breaking ball fell to Sam Curtis, who blasted low past Brian Murphy.

The Blues' chances were few and far between with a couple of early free kicks coming to nothing.

Then it was Wassim Aouachria on 36 minutes who dragged the ball across St Pat's goal, in what was their best chance of the half.

Pat's doubled their lead on 52 minutes, when Eoin Doyle picked up a ball through the middle and out-paced Eddie Nolan before chipping the ball over Murphy.

Searle rang the changes with seven substitutes throughout the second half.

But they couldn't get a foothold in the game that finished Waterford FC - 0, St Patrick's Athletic - 2.

The First Division begins for the Blues next Friday (February 17th) with an away trip to Wexford.

Kick-off is at 7.45pm and WLR will bring you live commentary, thanks to McConnell's Toyota Waterford, with a commentary team of Ray Scott and John Frost.
