Waterford have continued their unbeaten run in the SSE Airtricity League First Division with a fine 3 – 0 win over playoff rivals Treaty United at the RSC last night.
This was another composed performance from a Blues side brimming with confidence. They took the lead after 10 minutes when Junior Quitirna picked up the ball outside the area and fired a great shot goalward where a slight deflection took it away from goalkeeper Conor Winn.
Waterford continued to press with efforts from Roland Idowu and Phoenix Patterson both saved by keeper before Raul Uche tapped home from close range following a great cross from Tunmise Sobowale five minutes before the break.
Waterford added a third just before the hour through the prolific Phoenix Patterson who finished off a great team move by firing low to the bottom corner for his fifth goal in five games.
Paul Martin did very well to save at point-blank range from the head of Callum McNamara who met a Stephen Cristopher free kick in what was Treaty’s only real chance of the game on 73 minutes while Winn denied Wassim Aouachria minutes later after he linked up well with Uche.
