Waterford FC have informed the FAI that they will not be playing Sligo Rovers this weekend.

The club have decided to forfeit their Premier Division meeting with Rovers which was scheduled to take place this Saturday.

A senior squad member tested positive for covid-19 last week and several close contacts within the first team meant that the team could not take the field for the visit of Drogheda to the RSC.

The U19 team were sent out to play The Drogs last Saturday, with the result telling a tale of what happens when men play boys. The full time score from the RSC saw the visitors claim a healthy 7 nil victory.

The club hope that the first team can return to training from next Monday providing negative tests are returned.

While the on field activities are paused, the search for a new manager continues with the club expected to make an announcement in the coming days.
