Shelbourne FC 2 Waterford FC 1

Shelbourne FC had to come from behind to beat Waterford FC  in their friendly meeting at Clonshaugh in Dublin.

The Blues got the perfect start after three minutes when Ryan Burke's cross field ball was controlled by new signing Padraig Amond. He then attacked the penalty area before slipping the ball under Conor Kearns.

Eight minutes later, Robbie McCourt went close when he met a Ben McCormack corner but the header flew over the bar.

Shels were awarded a penalty on 15 minutes when Darragh Power was penalised for a clumsy challenge but Shane Farrell blasted the ball off the crossbar. However, Shels regained possession and Sean Cummins' low cross deflected off Adam Queally and past Sam Sargeant for the equaliser.

Five minutes later, the were in front when Waterford lost possession on the left and it was Farrell who took advantage to score.

The second half saw some very positive moves from the Blues with Christie Pattison getting some space on the right and challenging Kearns before Ryan Burke tested him with a fierce effort that was parried into the path of Dean McMenamy but Kearns saved the follow up with ease.

And he was on hand minutes later to deny McMenamy a second time.

The visitors' best chance of an equaliser came 11 minutes from time when Pattison's low cross was touched by Gbemi Arubi but the ball trickled outside the upright.
