Rockmount AFC (Cork) 1 Waterford FC 0

Reigning champions Waterford FC have bowed out of this season’s Munster Senior Cup after they lost out by one goal to nil against Rockmount of Cork in Whitechurch.

Manager Keith Long mixed up the team with six first teamers and five from the under 20 side starting the game, including fifteen year old Bobby Keohan who was impressive throughout.

Despite a few early chances, the Blues were unable to penetrate the home defence and they fell behind four minutes before the break when a defensive lapse at a corner kick from Niall Hanley allowed Adam Crowley to turn the ball home with ease.

It was a brighter performance in the second half particularly after the introduction of four more academy players and they made an immediate impact with Shane O Sullivan testing the keeper and then Zak O Sullivan having his effort block moments later. Liam Roberts flashed an effort across the goal 12 minutes from time and Zak O Sullivan had another effort late on but found the side netting.
