Waterford FC 3 St Patrick's Athletic 1

Waterford FC got back to winning ways with a decisive win over St Patrick's Athletic in their SSE Airtricity Premier Division clash at the RSC.

Keith Long made three changes to the side that lost in Galway with Rowan McDonald, Ryan Burke and Maleace Asamoah coming in for Niall O Keeffe, Robbie McCourt and Harvey McAdam.

The Blues got the perfect start on 7 minutes when a short corner from Barry Baggley to Asamoah was lofted into the area and an unmarked Podge Amond has a simple task of looping the ball over Marcelo Pitaluga for the lead.

The sides were level on 35 minutes after a good run and shot from Brandon Kavanagh was not cleared by the Waterford defence and Anto Breslin poked the ball home.

Waterford went back in front four minutes before the break when a Ryan Burke crossed was parried by Pitaluga straight into the path of Amond and he made no mistake.

The second half proved to an easy one for the home side and they made sure of the points 20 minutes from time when Man of the match Asamoah raced through from halfway before firing a left footed effort past the Saints' goalkeeper.
