Waterford FC fell to their second home defeat of the season when they lost to Bohemians by three goals to nil in front of 3,218 fans at the SRC last night.
Keith Long kept faith with the side that took maximum points over two games last weekend with Ryan Burke returning from suspension to take a place on the bench.
The opening goal arrived on 15 minutes when former Blue Colm Whelan picked up the ball on the left and as he approached the area he unleashed a powerful shot that flew past Stephen McMullan.
Bohemians were awarded the first of two penalties in the space of 1o minutes just after the half hour when Kyle White clipped Dawson Devoy inside the area and Whelan stepped up to place the ball beyond McMullan’s left into the corner.
The second penalty came after Kacper Radkowski was adjudged to have caught Dayle Rooney as he went to clear the ball and Whelan stepped up to fire the ball to the opposite corner for his hat-trick.
Despite their best efforts, the Blues could not find a way past a resolute Bohemians defence and the Gypsies headed back to Dublin with all three points.
