Bohemians FC 0 Waterford FC 1

Podge Amond was the Waterford hero as Keith Long took the bragging rights with a deserved victory for Waterford over Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

Keith Long made three changes to the side that lost to Shamrock Rovers on Monday with Maleace Asamoah, Darragh Leahy and Robbie McCourt coming in to the line up with Connor Evans, Kasper Radkowski and Joe Forde dropping to the bench.

There was little goalmouth action in the opening half hour but the Blues went in front on 31 minutes with a wonderfully worked goal.

A short free from Rowan McDonald to Robbie McCourt allowed the Blues' left back to run at the defence. He played a superb one-two with Conor Parsons before slipping the ball to Podge Amond and the striker fired home.

Sam Sargeant did very well to deny Dayle Rooney on two occasions - the first a one on one after Rooney took advantage of a defensive error and then he dived across to hold a Rooney shot from the top of the area.

Bohs pressed hard to get into the game but the Waterford team showed a maturity that had been lacking in previous matches and they snuffed out every effort to hold on for a vital three points.
