The Waterford Ladies’ Footballers have secured their Division 1 status for 2025 following a hard-fought victory against Galway in what was essentially a battle to avoid the drop.
Pat Sullivan’s side were trailing 0-8 to 0-6 with time running out in Ballinasloe, but their attackers turned the screw in style to ensure a deserved 0-11 to 0-9 win.
Katie Murray and Lauren McGregor once again led the way for the Déise as they contributed 0-3 each, while a late score from Áine O’Neill proved pivotal.
Waterford now look forward to a Munster meeting with arch-rivals Cork in two weeks’ time, having defeated them comfortably in their last encounter.
