The Waterford Co. Board have issued a press release in relation to Walsh Park being unable to host Waterford's home Munster Championship games.
Due to Health and Safety concerns and a reduction in capacity to approx 8000 at Walsh Park because of the impending removal of the Western Boundary wall, Waterford GAA had no alternative but to seek alternative venues for the home ties against Cork and Tipperary.
It wasn't possible to play the match against Tipperary in Pairc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday June 3rd due to the Cork City Marathon taking place in the city on that date and Tipperary were not in a position to play the game on the Bank Holiday Monday.
The option to play the game in Thurles or Nowlan Park could not be considered under the Regulations as a change from a Home venue can only be to a Neutral venue within the Province.
The game against Tipperary will take place in Gaelic Grounds, Limerick on June 3rd. The game against Cork will take place in Semple Stadium, Thurles on June 17th.
The Waterford Co. Board says it wishes to regret any cause of inconvenience caused to loyal supporters but unfortunately the County Board was left with no alternative taking into consideration all the circumstances.
