Fergal O'Brien says Dan's passion for the game and his personality will bring a lot to the table.

"I saw myself when I was involved with the senior hurlers what a top-class coach he is.

"He is a top-class guy in terms of how he carries himself and brings a lot more to the table as well as all his expertise as a hurling coach.

"He has vast experience as a player and his influence on the dressing room should be very good."
