Eight successes for Waterford athletes at All-Ireland Secondary School Championships

There was one gold, five silvers and two bronze medals for Waterford athletes at yesterday's All Ireland Secondary Schools Championships in Tullamore, Offaly.

Meabh O'Connor of Waterpark won the senior walk.

Silver medals went to Katie Nolke of the Ursuline for the senior long-jump and Averil Buckley of Ard Scoil na nDeise for the intermediate hammer. Andrew Scanlon of St Declans Kilmacthomas was 2nd in the intermediate javelin ,Saoirse Quinn and Corey Scanlon of St. Augustine's College took silver in the intermediate discus.

Daire Casey Power of the Abbey Community College took bronze in the junior javelin and Doireann Ni Ici of Meanscoil San Nioclas did the same in the intermediate walk.
