
Waterford athletes enjoyed success at the World Sprint Duathlon Championships in Pontevedra, Spain this morning.
Waterford Triathlon Club members Diane Behan, Cillian Cloney and Simon Befort are competing at the prestigious event.
Today, Diane finished fourth in the 55-59 age category and Cillian came 6th in the 17 – 19 age group.
The event consisted of a 5km run, 20 km cycle and 3km run.
Speaking to WLR from Spain, Diane said both were very happy with their results after tough racing in an event she described as one of the best she has attended.Â
Earlier this year, Diane competed at the World Powerman Duthalon Championships in Germany and has enjoyed significant success in the past at international level.
Club member Simon Befort is racing in standard distance in the World Championships tomorrow morning (Sunday) in the 40 – 45 age category.
