A ball was slid through for Michael Kiely resulting in a free given on the edge of the box. Yellow card issued. The free kick effort, just the wrong side of the post.
A guilt edged chance for Villa was missed after the Dungarvan keeper parried a shot inside the box. Spectators not knowing how the ball didnt nestle into the net.
A challenge which left danger man Rochford in a heap at the halfway line led to a skirmish and a red card for Jefferson.
Chances in the first half were few and far between. Neither side showing the cutting edge in the opening 45.
A brave tackle turned cross down Villa’s left hand side by John Tamen arrived and the finish was provided by prolific marksman Dean Walsh.
It was 1-0 to the home side at the break but it could’ve been more.
A scrappy start to the second half couldn’t have been summed up any better than the goal which gave the home side the breathing room their first half performance deserved. A duel won, a shot saved. The rebound coming straight back into the path of Conor Kilgannon to put the ball into the empty net.
And the third was just as scrappy. A corner swung in to a vicious wind. Keeper spilled and the ball was bundled over the line by Cian Browne. 3-0 and title secured on a horribly wet and windy night.
The fourth goal though was a thing of beauty. A lovely scooped through ball from Aaron O’Connor sent Kilgallon through and he finished with aplomb for the Poleberry sides fourth of the night.
With minutes left to play, Villa’s James Kennedy saw red, once again, the incident taking place at the centre circle.
But it was nine man Villa who secured the title.
