Waterford football boss Benji Whelan has added 46 year old Kilrossanty goalkeeper Darren Mulhearne to his squad ahead of the Munster championship. It's a first senior call-up for the veteran who won a county title with the green and gold back in 1989.

Regular number one Aaron Beresford dislocated his knee on club duty with Ballinacourty earlier this month. Mulhearne will battle it out with David Whitty from Gaultier for a start in the Munster quarter final against Clare on May 11.

Whelan says that he is a welcome addition to the panel. "We're delighted to have Darren on board. He's champing at the bit for the opportunity which is great to see."
