Kate Veale has cause for celebrations this weekend.
The West Waterford athlete has blitzed a long-standing Munster record for the indoor 3,000m race walk, knocking some 34 seconds off the previous best time set in 1997.
She came home this morning in 12.49.18.
Gillian O'Sullivan of UCC athletics had held the record of 13.23.50 for the past 26 years since Veale was just three years old.

This morning in Nenagh, Kate picked up where her last season form left off. Her walk time today is her fastest ever recorded over 3km indoors and also the 2nd fastest time in the world so far in 2023.
