Harrington returned to the ring late last year following retirement, taking part in an exhibition bout against Chelsey Heijnen of the Netherlands. She had stepped away from competitive boxing after defeating China’s Yang Wenlu by a 4–1 decision in the 60kg lightweight final at Stade Roland Garros during the Paris 2024 Olympics, a victory that cemented her place among Ireland’s boxing greats.
For Breslin, Saturday’s semi-final represents a significant opportunity to test herself against one of the most decorated fighters in Irish boxing history on one of the sport’s biggest domestic stages.
