Tramore New Year’s Day Chase O’Driscoll’s Irish Whiskey Extends Sponsorship
Tramore Racecourse proudly confirms that O’Driscoll’s Irish Whiskey will continue its sponsorship of the Grade 3 New Year’s Day Chase, reinforcing one of Ireland’s most prestigious holiday races.
€50,000 Bonus Adds Excitement
Additionally, O’Driscoll’s Irish Whiskey has announced a €50,000 bonus. The prize will go to the connections of the winner of the New Year’s Day Chase if the horse wins any race at the 2026 Cheltenham Festival. This new incentive is likely to attract top-class runners.
Moreover, it adds an extra layer of anticipation for racing fans leading into the Festival season.
A Rich History of Winners
The race already boasts a prestigious roll of honour. For instance, dual Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Al Boum Photo won the race four years consecutively for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend.
Meanwhile, in 2023, Minella Indo delighted spectators with a narrow victory for Henry de Bromhead and Rachael Blackmore. Last year, Embassy Gardens triumphed under the late Mikey O’Sullivan, thrilling local supporters.
Sponsor Praises the Race’s Growth
Michael Stafford, Managing Director of O’Driscoll’s Irish Whiskey, commented:
“We are delighted to add this extra layer of excitement to our sponsorship at Tramore. The race has grown in stature year after year, and many winners have gone on to Cheltenham success.”
He added,
“The New Year’s Day Chase has evolved into a recognised trial for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.”
Tramore Welcomes Continued Support
Owen Byrne, Racecourse Manager, praised the strengthened partnership.
“We are thrilled that Michael and his team have enhanced their support here at Tramore. The O’Driscoll’s group is passionate about Irish racing and really gets behind the sport.”
Furthermore, he noted,
“Our New Year’s Day fixture is one of the key social events during the Christmas and New Year period. We are delighted to have O’Driscoll’s Whiskey on board for our flagship race.”
