Former Waterford County Board chairman and Stradbally GAA stalwart Tom Cunningham has died.
Cunningham gave a lifetime of service to GAA in Waterford, serving as County Board Chairman between 2010 and 2015 as well as Chairman of the Western Board and Chairman of his beloved Stradbally – while he was also involved with Munster Council.
In his time involved with Stradbally, the club enjoyed a golden period in Waterford football – winning ten county football championship titles between 2001 and 2017, including five in a row between 2001 and 2005. The club also finished runners up in Munster in 2004.
Tributes have been paid to Cunningham, who has been described as a “true GAA man” who “gave a lifetime of service to Waterford”.
A familiar face to all attending games across the county, he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
