Waterford camogie coach Wayne Power says that the players have been a pleasure to work with this year.
"To be honest with you, absolutely exceptional. They've bought into everything we've put in front of them. They've given us 100 per cent commitment on and off the field and they've really looked after themselves. That's led to a really enjoyable environment. Everybody seems to be happy within it. It's paying dividends now. When they're happy, things go well."
The Ballyduff Upper man was part of Sean Power's backroom team when Waterford won the All Ireland minor hurling title in 2013. He didn't hesitate when Power asked him to join the camogie set-up over the winter. "Great man manager. He's a leader, not a dictator. Everything is out on the table. Once you know the man, you can make the decision fairly quick. Very happy to be part of it and delighted he asked me."
On the club scene, Power helped Ardmore to All Ireland junior success in 2018. He also got coaching experience with Kanturk in Cork and the UL Fresher hurling team.
Waterford must get over great rivals Tipperary on Saturday to make the All Ireland final on August 6. Tipp prevailed 4-11 to 1-9 when the sides met two months ago in the Munster semi final. "Massive challenge. We really had our eyes opened when we played them down in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Hopefully, we've learned a lot from it. I'm sure Tipperary have learned a lot from it as well but we obviously have a bit more to learn. I do think it's going to be one of our toughest games of the year so far."
Saturday's All Ireland Camogie Semi Final Waterford v Tipperary will be the Kiely Gaule Big Match on WLR. Join Tomás McCarthy and Claire Whyte for live coverage from Nowlan Park at 3.15.
