Deise football defender Brian Looby hopes that the Tailteann Cup will get the green light in 2021.
Last month, GAA director general Tom Ryan said that the competition was in doubt. Looby believes that it is important for Division 3 and Division 4 counties like Waterford to get the opportunity to play in Croke Park.
“When it was first proposed, I was excited to take part in it. For all the so-called weaker counties, more games and more competitive games is the way forward. Having a cup to ourselves and being able to play semi finals and finals in front of big crowds is the way forward. Unfortunately, circumstances dictate what happened last year and what’s going to happen this year. The sooner we get this cup started and into the calendar, the better for counties like ourselves.”
