Tallow’s bid to return to the senior hurling ranks at the first time of asking remains alive as they narrowly saw off Clashmore Kinsalebeg by 1-18 to 2-14 in the Waterford Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship Quarter-Final at Fraher Field tonight.
Talisman Tommy Ryan led by example with a first-half goal and a crucial second half free to make sure of progress – while Ian Beecher clipped over three huge scores in the second period.
Tallow were made to sweat for the result, Sam Fitzgerald finding the net for Clashmore Kinsalebeg – while a stoppage-time free from Tadhg de Burca made it a one-point affair with just seconds left.
Tallow held firm to secure a second win of the season against last year’s beaten finalists – and they join Affane Cappoquin Tourin in the last four following their 2-29 to 2-15 success against Shamrocks.
They’ll meet group winners Ballysaggart and Ballygunner in the semi-finals as the battle for senior hots up.
