The Waterford footballers tasted victory for the first time in the Tailteann Cup following a memorable win against Longford at O'Moore Park.
Stephen Curry starred with 2-1 for the Deise, while the other goals came from Alan Dunwoody and Tholom Guiry as Paul Shankey's men recorded their second win of the season.
Shankey's charges were primed for this encounter with Rathgormack star Curry netting a sixth minute goal to give Waterford the early impetus.
Longford responded with Aaron Farrell, Darren Gallagher, and1-1 from Daniel Mimnagh as they pulled five points ahead, but Curry responded with 1-1 in turn to make it all evens at the break - 2-5 to 1-8.
Alan Dunwooy struck Waterford's third goal, before a late strike from Guiry secured a memorable 4-12 (24) to 1-16 (19) win.
