Ballygunner manager Darragh O'Sullivan says that goalkeeper Stephen O'Keeffe is one of the best goalkeepers of all time.

O'Keeffe was at his brilliant best yesterday as Ballygunner saw off Limerick champions Doon at the Gaelic Grounds by 0-25 to 0-20.

He made two outstanding stops to deny Jack Ryan and Pat Ryan - moments that ultimately swung the game back in the Gunners' favour as the three-in-a-row Munster champions had been as much as five points down.

Speaking after the game, O'Sullivan said that O'Keeffe's save to deny Jack Ryan in the 33rd minute was the turning point as his side went on to record their tenth successive win in the province.

"It's probably Sox save that gave the momentum. When someone does something like that - that's really, really special. You kind of say, f*ck this, excuse my French - but it's like, God that was special, let's go again here. He has that in his locker. We've seen him do it day in and day out. He's a phenomenal player. I think he's well up there with the best goalkeepers of all time."

"The top goalies can read the body language of players too, and he is right up there. It was some save. The second one from Pat Ryan, he bounced it right into the ground and he went full length as well. That would have brought it back to a point. Stephen is just a special player and a special guy."

Doon manager and former Waterford boss Derek McGrath agreed with the sentiment that O'Keeffe is one of the very best goalkeepers to have ever played the game.

"You have to bring it in right on top of Stephen if you want to score on him - we said that during the week. Jack did everything right. It's just a brilliant save - but that's unsurprising. He's one of the greatest goalies Waterford ever had - he's been doing things like this all his life."
