Irish sports bodies had anticipated being able to return to play with reduced crowd numbers but last nights announcement by government has dented those hopes.

The initial Phase 4 plan was for 500 people to be permitted into sports grounds but that number will now remain at 200.

The planned increase to 500 would have been a real boost to the GAA and League Of Ireland who are in need to ticket sales revenue to bolster what has been a poor financial return this year.

The limit  of 200 people in the stadiums means that about 100 fans will be allowed attend due to the fact that grounds staff  and team support crews need to be counted for.

GAA Club fixtures are due to resume tomorrow while the League Of Ireland is set to get back underway from the 31st of July, while the interpro rugby games are set to take place in the Avivia on August 22nd.
