Drogheda United 2 Waterford FC 0

Another slow start has cost Waterford all three points as Drogheda United moved to the top of the table with a victory at Sullivan and Lambe Park. Jon Daly made just one change to the side that played Shelbourne with Sam Glenfield coming in for Cian Barrett who dropped to the bench. And much like last week, the Blues were under pressure from the opening whistle and found themselves behind on three minutes. Two quick corners were not dealt with and when a header fell to Shane Farrell, he unleashed a left footer that flew past McMullan. They were two down within ten minutes as former Blues' player Thomas Oluwa crossed into the area where the ball bounced off Edwin Agbaje and fell to Mark Doyle who slotted home from close range. To the visitor's credit they continued to battle and had a couple of half chances but Drogheda's organisation kept the Blues at arms length. Substitute Cian Barrett crashed a 35 yard effort off the crossbar with nine minutes remaining but Waterford could not find a way through a resolute Drogheda defence who saw out the game to their second win in a week.
