A six-time All Star winner has been added to the Waterford fold as the senior hurling backroom team has been revealed this afternoon.

Tipperary's Eoin Kelly will join new manager Davy Fitzgerald's set-up, having previously been part of the management team in the Premier county, under Liam Sheedy, for the 2020 and 2021 seasons.

The Mullinahone man brings a wealth of experience to the Déise set-up, having retired in 2014 with five Munster titles, two All-Irelands medals, and two National League titles under his belt.

His tally of 21 goals and 369 points also ranks him in the top 10 championship scorers of all time.

As revealed earlier today by WLR Sport, Kelly will be joined in the Waterford backroom team by now-former Roanmore manager, Peter Queally.

The Ballydurn native enjoyed a lengthy inter-county career, playing senior for 14 years before retiring in 2003 - a year after winning the Munster title.

His appointment won't come as a surprise to many, as he was part of Davy Fitzgerald's management team during Fitzgerald's first stint as Waterford manager in 2008 and played an integral role as the county reached the first All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final since 1963.

Queally also has a Junior Football All-Ireland to his name, which he won with Waterford in 1999.

He finished his spell as Roanmore manager this week as the Sky Blues bowed out of the Waterford Senior Club Hurling Championship at the semi-final stage where they were defeated by reigning champions, Ballygunner.

In announcing the new backroom team today, Waterford GAA have said they wish Eoin, Peter, and manager, Davy Fitzgerald, every success.

The management team will go forward for official ratification at the next County Board meeting.
