Newly appointed Waterford FC manager John Sheridan has said that he is delighted to get the opportunity to manage the team.
He spoke to WLR Sport today and says that he is "itching to get back in to it" and that he is coming to do well and hopefully be successful.
Sheridan has managed more than 650 games in the lower divisions of English Football over the past 20 years - Including two spells at Chesterfield who he led to the 2011 League Two title and 2012 Football League Trophy. As a player he played in the top tier of English football with Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Bolton Wanderers and also represented Ireland at the 1990 and 1994 World Cups.
He believes that the club have an opportunity to climb the table with the new truncated season laying ahead of them.
The players have been back in training since Monday and Sheridan is focused on getting them as fit as he can so that they are ready for the re-start.
He has not expressed any desire to sign players as of yet and says that he'd rather look at what players he has to work with before considering whether signing are needed or not.
The Blues sit at sixth in the table after four games of the coronavirus halted Premier Division season - Sheridan now faces into a truncated 14 game spell to conclude the league campaign starting on July 31st.
